No. 1 seed Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic survived a first-round scare Tuesday to advance in the singles main draw of The 2012 Oaks Club $50,000 Pro Circuit Event.
Ranked No. 68 in the world, the 26-year-old resident of Prague needed three sets to dispose of Hungarian left-hander Melinda Czink 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-3.
“This tournament is so strong, it’s like a WTA event,” Hradecka said. “It was a tough match. Every match in this tournament is going to be tough.”
