President Barack Obama has never articulated an official “Obama Doctrine” when it comes to foreign policy. But one of the nation’s most well-known conservative commentators thinks Obama has shown a distinct foreign policy flavor that seems to subscribe to the worst critiques of America.

Columnist Charles Krauthammer, who speaks in Sarasota on Jan. 13, said in an interview that Obama’s recent speech on Cuba once again put on display the President’s willingness to give voice to a critic’s view of America and the idea that the U.S. should retreat from the global stage. During that speech on Dec. 17, Krauthammer said Obama referenced the U.S. being viewed negatively as a “colonizer” — a common view for Latin Americans who oppose U.S. policies.
